Cerebral Vortex, the natural-born observationalist educated in hiphop dojos and bavarian ghettos, learned at a tender age to assimilate and articulate his global visions through his heartfelt passion for hiphop.
Born into a nomadic family of spiritual vocalists, Vortex’s naturally insatiable passion for music was further inspired by the heyday of the mtv revolution, punk and the emergence of rap and rock music. A high school exchange stint landed the raw but talented emcee in the Asian hiphop dojos of Tokyo, Japan. There he honed his craft under the collective wings of musical gurus who would add the young pupil to their crew and come to be known as the Ill Squad. In a 4-year run of national tour openings and show headlining throughout Japan, the Ill Squad established a cult following and citywide recognition and left an indelible imprint on the young Vortex.
Post graduation, Vortex journeyed to the Bay Area of California. He expanded his crew and flooded the Southern California hiphop scene with his first EP, the successful single "International Airliners" featuring Rein1 of Western Goods. Vortex then stormed into a desolate San Antonio hiphop scene, which marked a dark period for the striving artist. Soon, a desperate yet confident stab at international recognition would be in the stars.
Packing up the starship for another quest abroad, Vortex landed in Bavaria, Germany, where the boombap-thirsting emcee instantly meshed with artists from the newly formed massive "Fam Tree" now known as "FTC." The group began recording jewels for the "FTC mixtape," which would evolve into an extensive catalogue of albums, EPs and compilations, and would push the crew into the public eye. Performing throughout Germany and Europe, Vortex and FTC built a strong and supportive fan base from a gumbo pot of nationalities and eclectic music freaks.
Currently coming full circle by returning to the Bay Area, Vortex is a legacy known throughout a nation of hiphop starvists. |
